TOP 3 REASONS FOR NON-ADMISSION

The most common grounds for non-admission to the participation in the competition and selection for the position of judge.

The acceptance of documents for participation in competitions for the Specialised Circuit Administrative Court and the Specialised Administrative Court of Appeal is ongoing. Applications can be submitted until December 23 inclusive. In order to avoid unfortunate mistakes and not lose the opportunity to participate, we advise you to carefully check your package of documents.

The High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine analysed the most common reasons for non-admission to competitions:

1. Lack of necessary professional legal experience

In the competition for the court of appeal, 71% of refusals to participate were due to a lack of the necessary work experience (professional activity).

Before submitting your documents, make sure that your experience meets the relevant requirements and that your application package contains confirmation of such experience.

Particular attention should be paid to confirming your experience in professional legal practice, including representation in public law disputes in administrative courts. The Commission will publish a separate clarification in the near future.

2. Incomplete set of documents

In the competition for the High Anti-Corruption Court and the selection for the position of local court judge, 71% of refusals were due to the submission of an incomplete set of required documents. Most often, individuals did not submit:

- autobiography;

- high education diploma;

- supplements to the high education diploma;

- certificate of proficiency in the state language;

- application for special background check;

- certificate from a medical institution.

Be sure to check that all documents are attached to the application. Candidates may sometimes send a diploma but forget the supplements to it, and vice versa. Please be careful.

3. Documents do not meet the requirements

In 20% of cases, the reason for non-admission to the selection process for the position of local court judge is that the documents submitted do not meet the established requirements.

We recommend paying attention to:

- requirements for filling out the autobiography;

- the established deadline for obtaining a certificate from a medical institution;

- the established deadline for obtaining a criminal record extract;

- the required level of proficiency in the state language, confirmed by the relevant certificate.

Most mistakes are easy to avoid! Just download all the documents in advance, check that they are up to date and complete.
